5) Yukon up close!

This post, I might actually get some Yukon Pics instead of just BC....

Along the roadside.... glad they were sitting down. Wouldn't want to spook them at all....
they might make a slight dint in the vehicle ;)

Recognize this silhouette??

Ah yes, finally we enter the Yukon for the last time!  When you drive along the Alaskan highway up to the Yukon, you actually cross the border about 7 times I believe it is.

Here is the glamorous sign for welcoming us into the Yukon! I was rather disappointed I must say.

This was after midnight.... we didn't stop until about 1 am upon our arrival into the Yukon.

I guess that is where the name Land of the Midnight Sun comes in!

As you can see, two pics above, is Watson Lake. This is where we spent our fist over night in the yukon.  At Watson Lake, their main attraction is the Sign Post Forest. It was started in 1942 by a homesick US army soldier. Today is has something like over 47,000 signs.

can you see the SK plates???

Anything to have your name on a 'sign' in the sign post forest. lol.

And of course, had to take a pic of the dairy farmers' sign....

WHERE'S WALDO???

And off to our first fishing stop in the Yukon!

Dad found a raft and managed to float out quite a ways.Good fishing eh?

Here is Huck Fin in his lil adventure....

4) Yukon yet again ;)

Another pit stop.....oh wait, that also means we need our bait and fishing rods!!!

This makes SK's roadsides look pretty drab and boring!!!
This is another beeeautiful lake along the road side.... it was HUGE! Set in the midst of a mountain range, and sparkling with a pretty emerald colour! We really do live in a beautiful country!

Located a mile 463!

This pic really shows the true colour of the water. I am not expert at photography, and it was cloudy as we were driving by, so the rest of them don't really capture the colour :(

I love these next two pictures..... My father in law is a hoot!!!!

We are still in BC at this point....

3) Continued Yukon Road Trip!

Here are yet some more pics from our road trip....sorry they are all coming slowly but surely!!! Hope everyone has had a great week so far. Hubby is on nights again..... so this will keep me busy ;)

Here are some of our rellies (missing a few) and some of our friends in Northern BC...

Some of our Fair Rellies
 Some more Fairs!!!

Dale and Mabel

And then to START OUR WAY UP THE ALASKAN HIGHWAY!!!! There is SOOOO much to know about this highway and its history. I am not history buff, but even I found it interesting!!! ;) They built this highway in Canada's weather conditions in just under 9 months I believe it was. Now SK could sure pick it up a notch in this regard could they not?!?!?! ;)

One of our first MEESE that we saw ;) Dad, you will never live it down, but this is where the story comes in that we are at TWO MOOSE! Glad we had our handy navigator along to put us on the map!!!

And here is one of the first bears we saw. This momma black bear had two lil cubs. One was black and the other was a cinnamon colour! That's a first to see for us!!!! Sorry she is not visible in this pic. Actually that lil cub just may be camouflaged instead.

Our highest elevation was at Summit Lake. We actually reached a point of 1286M above sea level!!!! Sorry this pic of the GPS doesn't show that number, but you get it!

Summit Lake herself!!! She was a beauty!!!!! One our way back, the ice had all melted!

In the picture below, believe it or not, there is a moose just climbing out of the water. The moose is about dead centre of the picture. This was at Toad River. Just as we were pulling into town, Dean happened to look at this little lake behind the town and spotted a moose! He's got the eyes of a HAWK for wildlife!
